Take a vacation to the Charleston area in April for a great vacation! There are plenty of fun family-friendly events going on in April to enjoy. Stay at a beautiful hotel in Mt Pleasant SC, just outside of Charleston, to be close to all the great attractions and activities.

Make sure to check out the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival at Boone Hall Plantation when you visit in April. Boone Hall Plantation is one of the oldest working plantations in the country and has been producing crops for over 300 years.  They host the annual Lowcountry Strawberry Festival every year, although it was put on hiatus last year due to road construction. The Strawberry Festival is one of the most anticipated events in Mt. Pleasant. The Festival has a ton of great amusement rides, vendors, magic shows, live music, pig races, eating contests, recipe contests and more. Of course with a strawberry festival there is the opportunity to pick strawberries from the fields. Admission to the event is five dollars for ages 12 and up and three dollars for children ages 3-11.  Tickets for the rides will be additional fee and there will be ride everything wrist bands as well. The Lowcountry Strawberry Festival was expanded to four days this year, April 18-21st, and will be open at night for the first time ever. Hours vary depending on the day so make sure to check the schedule on the Boone Hall website before going.

Make sure to stay at a gorgeous Mt Pleasant resort like the Shem Creek Inn for this wonderful festival. The Shem Creek Inn is located just minutes from the Boone Hall Plantation and is the perfect family-friendly resort on the waterfront.
